it's a wurld domination: nigerian rising star launches new ep 'afrosoul'

It was a different world when Globetrotter met WurlD in Lagos, Nigeria in late 2019. Back then, we talked about, among other things, his objects for 2020, a year that seemed to be brimming with potential.

We know now we got 2020 all wrong, and a lot of plans for the year have been ruined, so it's such a relief to see WurlD, despite everything that's been happening so far, is still the same promising young talent that he's always been.

Today, on May 15, the Nigerian rising superstar is releasing his latest record, Afrosoul, a follow-up to his highly successful I Love Girls with Trobul (2019), his joint project with producer Sarz.

The 7-track EP is led by singles “Love Nobody” and "Wayo", which is the Nigerian slang for “Mind Games”. In “Wayo”, lilting saxophone harmonizes with Afro-centric instrumental, as WurlD sings of his crazy love with his vocal finesse. It's both international and WurlD-like at the same time. Mature and sophisticated, it's in the same vein as another track, "Ghost World".
