interview by: Kennedy Ashinze

Born Sadiq Onifade, Nigerian-American singer WurlD grew up in Lagos before relocating to Atlanta, where he found his love for music and songwriting. Today, WurlD, along with his signature blue hair, is one of Africa's most notable rising artists.

He has credited the creative hub in Atlanta for influencing him musically, and described his style as Afro-Fusion. His big break came in 2016 with the release of “Show You Off," which features Walshy Fire of Major Lazer and producer Shizzi.

He continues his upward trajectory with a newly released EP, entitled I Love Girls With Trobul. Two years in the making, the EP is a collaborative project with renowned producer, Sarz. "It's the first of its kind. It's gonna inspire a lot of people. We're happy to raise the bar," he said about the EP's long creation process. "I feel that this project raised the bar. I'm not apologetic about it."

To Globetrotter, WurlD also talked briefly about his collaboration with Davido and revealed his 2020 plans, which include a debut solo album.
