seoul fashion week goes digital for the first time
One of the biggest fashion events in Asia went digital after previously announcing cancellation.
Digital fashion weeks are not exactly something new, but they’ve always been considered a second option. Yet, with the global pandemic and all, they seem to be the only option available right now.
One of the biggest in Asia, Seoul Fashion Week is always a much-anticipated spectacle. Originally scheduled to run from March 17 to 21, the event was officially cancelled in February, during the height of the corona outbreak in South Korea.
Today, as the country has pretty much gotten the spread of the virus under control, Vogue Korea has finally made Seoul Fashion Week happen, virtually.
From April 13 to 16, the publication rolled out two to three Instagram videos per day, each dedicated to one of the 10 participating brands or designers: MINJUKIM, pushBUTTON, Low Classic, Kijun, YCH, KYE, EENK, IISE, Blindness and BESFXXK.
Featuring models in the brands' or designers' Fall/Winter 2020 offerings, the videos are set to electronic beats and futuristic 3D settings that befit the themes of the collections.
YCH's office-inspired looks, for instance, are presented in what seems to be a virtual workplace, while MINJUKIM’s feminine designs are paired with a digital flowery background.
