the fokn bois flip bantu's 'animal carnival'
The Ghanaian duo remixes Bantu’s new release.
In preparation of their upcoming album that's coming out in September, Bantu is amping up the hype with an exciting collaboration project.
From their home in Lagos, the band reached out to Accra where their friends, M3nsa and Wanlov, or also known as the Fokn Bois, are based. They came with a favor, and that is to remix their song, "Animal Carnival".
True to Bantu's passion for social consciousness, the lyrics to the song contain a deeper meaning. Rather than a literal carnival, the band is actually singing about "animals" that steal and swallow money. In the remix, Fokn Bois balances the seriousness of the topic out with their own brand of wit, adding two new rap verses to the original tune and delivering them through the duo's signature deadpan comedy.
Under the humor, there's always a sense of mindfulness in Fokn Bois' raw lyrics, which is why they’re, as Bantu has mentioned in an official statement, “the perfect fit“ for “Animal Carnival:.
Adding to the (dark) humor is the cover artwork, which features an illustration by Ghanaian artist Bright Ackwerh.
